Week 2 Draftkings Plays

Week 2 Draftkings Plays

Last week was frustrating at times. Between Dez's Drama and some dropped TD catches, it wasnt the best! A lot of hits and misses. I will highlight the Good, the Bad and the Ugly of last week at the end of this article! Onto week 2!

Cash plays (50/50’s) :

QB:

Drew Brees- $7,800

The Tampa secondary made Marcus Mariota look like a superstar in his first start in the NFL last week which should make for easy work for Drew Brees this week. The only worry is that the Saints get up to too big of a lead and they stop throwing. He is a very solid bet for 20 points.

Matt Ryan- $7,400

Yeah I know he isn’t at home where he normally puts up better numbers, but Tony Romo put up great totals against the giants last week mostly without Dez Bryant. Matt Ryan is a good high upside play with a pretty solid floor as well.

Carson Palmer – $6,700

I don’t see the Bears being able to control the clock as well as they did against the packers. The Cardinals have a much more solid run defense and secondary which should give the ball back to their offense. Oh I forgot to add, the Bears secondary still isn’t very good. Palmer should have a great day and is in play for both tournaments and 50/50’s for me.

RB:

Marshawn Lynch- $7,200

Lynch is my play of the week and will have him in the majority of my lineups. I love the matchup as the porous packers D just got shredded by Matt Forte. Lynch is a different kind of runner and superior in my opinion. A stat I discovered in the offseason, When lynch received over 20 carries last year, he either had 100 yards or a touchdown (sometimes receiving) . Hopefully lynch can get to that 20 carry mark because he should have a huge game v the packers.

Carlos Hyde- $5,100

I knew Carlos Hyde was good but wow he had a fantastic game last week. Luckily Draftkings didn’t adjust to his huge game and still is incredibly cheap. I am welcome to playing him in 50/50’s but tournament usage may honestly be insane. He has another great matchup v the Browns which Ivory ran all over last week.

Justin Forsett- $6,200

Forsett should have a great game against the Raiders this week. A PPR machine, Forsett should show his true colors after a horrible game from both sides on offense against the Broncos. Jeremy Hill ran all over this defense last week and Forsett should see similar success.

WR:

Larry Fitz- $5,400

He seems to be one of the safest plays this week against the bears. Fitz is still one of Palmers favorite targets which is great for PPR and should be targeted fairly often. Similar stats to last week with a TD seem pretty likely.

Jordan Matthews- $7,100

Matthews is the favorite target on the eagles who are playing in the game with the highest O/U game of the week. He is a great play and will be a target monster. Matthews has huge upside and is very cheap compared to other top receivers for this week. Him and Marshawn Lynch will be in almost all of my lineups this week.

Jarvis Landry- $5,900

Last week was sort of a disappointment for Landry until he returned a punt for a TD. The Dolphins offense couldn’t get going at all in the first half against Washington but started to figure it out later in the game and Landry started to be targeted much more. This weeks matchup v the Jags looks good for Landry as he remains Tannehills favorite target.

TE:

Jason Witten-$4,300

No dez = more targets for Witten. Witten had a great game last week and I expect him to post similar numbers this weekend, probably with less TD’s but you never know!

Martellus Bennet- $4,500

The Cardinals aren’t good at guarding the TE and according to how most think the game script should go, the Bears should start to throw a lot after they get behind. Bennet is one of Cutlers favorite targets and should have a big game.

Tournament Plays

I had many players in this section last week that put up optimal points for their price. (see last weeks review at the end of the article).

QB:

Carson Palmer- $6,700

The Cardinals love to pass and the bears are one of the worst in the league at defending passes 15+ yards. Palmer could have a huge day, stack with John brown and maybe Larry Fitz.

Nick Foles - $5,500

I don’t think people were expecting Foles to have as good of a game V seattle as he did. He now faces the redskins who don’t have a good secondary or pass rush, but play well v the run. . Foles could be a great contrarian play and gives you room to stack your lineup elsewhere.

Ryan Fitzpatrick - $5,500

Fitzmagic is back. This week the Jets probably wont go up by a lot and run the clock out, but will keep throwing against the colts weak secondary (Vontae Davis is the exception). Tyrod Taylor had quite a lot of success against the colts throwing last week and I expect Ftizpatrick to do well this week. This is another cheap QB that

Honorable mention: Carson Palmer $6,700, Tyrod Taylor $6,100, Sam Bradford $6,900

RB:

Mark Ingram- $5,900

The Bucs made Bishop Sankey look incredible last week. The Saints are favored by 10 which should put them in a position to run the ball a lot. Ingram could have a huge game especially if spiller remains out so start him with confidence as a high upside play.

Carlos Hyde- $5,100

Luckily Draftkings didn’t have time to adjust Hyde’s price so he is still dirt cheap. He will most likely be heavily owned but he should have a very solid game against the steelers D.

Marshawn Lynch- $7,200

Marshawn could have a 100+ yard 2 TD type of day. I don’t mind paying up for him with that kind of upside.

Honorable mention: Lance Dunbar $3,000, Chris Johnson $3,800

WR:

Jordan Matthews- $7,100

Matthews is the favorite target on the eagles who are playing in the game with the highest O/U game of the week. He is a great play and will be a target monster. Matthews has huge upside and is very cheap compared to other top receivers for this week.

Julio Jones-$ 8,900

Julio is playing on Sunday and should have a field day against the giants secondary. People may not play him because he had a good week last week, but he always has the potential to go crazy. Playing in a game that should be high scoring, the Falcons should throw very often targeting Julio like crazy.

Cole Beasley- $3,300

Dez is out and more targets are going to go to Beasley then people think. A lot of people are on the Terrence Williams train for this week and I don’t think he will do bad, but I think Beasley could put up similar numbers because of the PPR scoring. He is also $900 cheaper than Williams which frees up space for other players.

Honorable mention: Odell Beckham Jr. $8,800, John Brown $5,100, Eric Decker $5,100

TE:

Austin Seferians-Jenkins - $4,200

Seemingly the one bright spot last week for the Tampa offense was ASJ. He now plays the saints who give u a good amount of points to the TE. I am not expecting as much as last week but he could be in for another solid game.

Tyler Eifert - $4,300

He was in this section last week and could have another big game this week. Eifert got plenty of looks in the RZ and is heavily involved in the offense. It is obvious that Dalton loves to throw to this guy, double digit targets isn’t unlikely.

Martellus Bennet -$4,500

News of Jeffrey being questionable for the game means that Bennet may have an even bigger game than expected. Bennet has 2 TD upside with Jeffrey out or playing but not 100%.

Defense:

  1. Rams - $3,100

  2. Dolphins- $3,300

  3. Ravens - $2,900

Review of Week 1: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Week 1 was a weird week as far as fantasy Football goes. Players expected to be elite this year (Odell Beckham Jr., Dez Bryant, Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson) faltered in the spotlight while some rebounded from a disappointing 2014 (Keenan Allen, Stevie Johnson, Danny Woodhead), and others broke out after an off-season of hype (Tyler Eifert, Jordan Matthews, Chris Ivory).

Overall looking at the article I wrote early last week, there was some good calls and some whiffs. I will divide them into : the good, the bad and the ugly.

Starting with the good:

QB: Aaron Rodgers. Dominant as usual.

Andy Dalton. He had a TD dropped by AJG which really screwed up a lot of my projection, but he was right with the average of games v uncommon opponents. I will be using Dalton later down the stretch when the opportunity is right!

Te: Martellus Bennet, Travis kelce, Tyler Eifert

I recommended Kelce and Eifert in my GPP portion of TE’s and if you used them it payed off as both had fantastic games.

WR: Jarvis Landry boosted his point total with a punt return for a TD but had a pretty solid game overall.

Julio Jones. He exploded and could have had an even bigger game if the Falcons kept throwing and were more effective throughout the 2nd half. Still a huge contributor to lineups that cashed.

Many of my best recommended plays ended up being in my Honarable mention section where I recommended Stevie Johnson, Danny Woodhead and Chriv Ivory, tyrod taylor and Jason witten.

Also the defenses I recommended were fantastic, Dolphins with 15, Panthers with 21, Seahawks with 19, Jets with 17 (Maybe I should just focus on defense ranks) Just a joke but here goes the bad and the ugly!

Bad:

QB: Matt Ryan. I guess he didn’t play that bad, but 18 points isn’t what I am looking for at his price point with how prime the matchup was.

RB: Eddie Lacy, again not horrible but definitely could have been better. The game script for the bears packers game much different then expected because the bears ran the ball so well and didn’t give Rodgers much of a chance to get going until the 2nd half. Lacy definitely could have had a bigger day and seemed to have plenty of room to run when he did get it.

Andre Ellington + Latavius Murray. Both were recommended GPP plays and never broke off that long run. They didn’t perform horribly, but to place in a tournament we needed them to perform much better.

WR: Davante Adams, He out-targeted James jones, but didn’t seem to be on the same page with Rodgers enough. His point total was a big disappointment.

Ugly:

QB: Peyton Manning, He is really struggling to transition into this new offense and it showed on Sunday.

Eli Manning, If Eli gets his act together the giants should be a very good team and be able to compete with the best. However manning had a poor performance against the Cowboys which wasn’t all his fault due to WR drops, but he definitely could have had a better day.

RB: Adrian Peterson, Don’t even get me started on the Vikings. All around horrible performance and they didn't use Peterson properly at all or enough. Hopefully this changes

WR: Allen Robinson, One catch for 27 yards was a horrible start for “A-rob”. The jags didn’t look great and struggled offensively. I expected more from Bortles.

A.J. Green. He dropped a TD pass which would have definitely helped his TD total, but Eifert absolutely stole the show in the RZ this week.

Dez Bryant. Dez was first dehydrated, then ended up leaving the game with a broken foot and is now out 6-8 weeks possibly more. Not a good night for people who rostered dez.

TE: Greg olsen, The uber consistent olsen did absolutely nothing, which really surprised me. I don’t expect it to be like this all season as the coach and OC have said how important it is to give it to Olsen often.
