4 Breakout QB’s you can get in the 8th round or later!

These 5 QB’s are all great options after the 8th round. I personally like streaming my QB’s and spending most of my early picks on RB’s and WR’s, so these five guys fit perfectly with my draft strategy. I prefer to have most of these players as my #2 QB but if I lined up the matchups well it wouldn’t be bad to have a few of them and play them every once in a while based on matchups. Even if you do have a stud starter like Luck or Rodgers, it is never a bad idea to have a great backup who you could possible pawn off to someone who’s QB got injured or just sucks at streaming. Basically, you won’t want to leave your draft without one of these 4 guys.

Eli Manning (94.5)

Eli Manning has been continuously hated on ever since his rookie year shenanigans and for good reason, that was kind of ridiculous. Since then, he has had a very up and down career but has two Superbowl rings, and is known for being clutch when it matters. Before last year and through the first 4 weeks of the season things seemed to be trending down for Eli. His top receiver was out for the rest of the season and nothing seemed to be going right. The Giants offense was straight up garbage and he didn’t seem to grasp OC Ben Mcadoo’s new schemes.

Then the rebirth came in form of Odell Beckham Jr. Everyone knows that Eli and Odell would end up being one of the most dangerous QB-WR combos in the NFL for the rest of the season helping win many people their Fantasy Football championships. Now you look at 2015; Victor Cruz has been progressing very well according to multiple reports, pass-catching back Shane Vereen left the Pats to come to the Giants, red zone target James Jones signed, early down back Rashad Jennings is healthy (for now), and don’t forget about the man who got Eli going last year, Odell Beckham Jr is still making one handed grabs. Not only will Eli have a ridiculous amount of great players to throw to, according to Ben Mcadoo and others, the biggest strides in his offense are made in the second year. While Eli finished as the #10 fantasy QB last year, he was the #2 QB the final six weeks.

I am expecting huge things out of Eli this year as the defenses in his division haven’t improved a whole lot, priming the NFC East for another year of shootouts, great games to watch, and most importantly TONS of fantasy points. His floor is a lot higher than most people expect, a low end QB-1 , but his ceiling is really high. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Eli turn in a top 5 Fantasy season.

Matt Stafford (88.9)

If you remember back to last year, people were drafting Matt Stafford in the 4th round. Yeah… that didn’t work out well for them.

He wasn’t horrible, but he definitely didn’t return the value of a 4th round pick. He didn’t really have the huge games we are accustomed to out of Stafford. A big reason I saw was that Calvin Johnson wasn’t healthy. Even when he was on the field he was often used as a decoy, catching the ball only one or two times a game. Now that Calvin is back and healthy you can expect Stafford’s stats to be better all around. They still have the explosive Golden Tate and they drafted pass-catching back Ameer Abdullah who has been fantastic so far in training camps per multiple reports. To add onto that, the Lions defense shouldn’t be anywhere near as good as last year with some key departures, leaving them primed to throw the ball early and often to stay on par with their opponents.

Overall, that same upside everyone saw with Stafford last year by drafting him in the 4th round can now be had in around the 8th this year, don’t be afraid to pull the trigger.

Carson Palmer (129.6)

Everyone seems to have written Palmer off as “the old dude who always gets injured”. While he may get injured pretty often, he killed it last year when he was healthy. Playing in the Bruce Arians offense having a T.Y. Hilton like John Brown, A trusty veteran in Larry Fitzgerald and a talented but unproven Michael Floyd will make it easy for Palmer to put up great numbers. Andre Ellington is a good dynamic pass-catching back that is very explosive when he is healthy and the Cardinals bolstered their O-line in the Off-season.

Last year he threw for over 249 yards and two touchdowns 5/6 games he played and went over 300 twice out of those 6 games. He was on fire boasting an 11-3 TD to interception ratio. The Cardinals will look to get back on track with Palmer leading the way as they were 6-0 to start the year with him. He has the potential to be a very solid streaming option and should start multiple weeks on any team given the right matchup. While he may get injured again this year and eventually retire, he will turn in many top-12 weeks. Potential top QB production from a 12th round pick is going to be one of the best values in your Fantasy Draft.

Sam Bradford (117.6)

When Chip Kelly made the trade for Sam Bradford everyone was pretty surprised. Bradford always had potential, but St. Louis didn’t run a very QB friendly offense, the Rams didn’t have a true #1 WR, and Bradford couldn’t ever stay healthy.

Now Bradford is in a very QB friendly offense with some young but dangerous weapons in Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz. Not to mention the Eagles have the best RB corp in the league made up of Demarco Murray, Ryan Mtthews and Darren Sproles. The Eagles fast-paced offense was “Chip-Kellied” this off-season as they made changes at many positions. These changes should only be positive if what Chip is imagining comes true with this offense.

Last year with the Buttfumbler (Sanchez) and Napoleon Dynamite (Foles) at the helm, the Eagles QB’s put up a combined 4518 yards for 27 touchdowns and 21 INT. Those are some very solid stats with two players who are not very talented in my opinion. Bradford has all the opportunity in the world this year to become a solid QB-1 and if he is healthy there isn’t a doubt in my mind that he will. Reports out of camp so far have been glowing and that he has been lighting it up. I look forward to a big year out of Bradford and the Eagles if he is healthy.
