@BrettSquiresDFS is back at it again. Use these plays to make some $ on the small but enticing monday-thursday slate.
QB: Derek Anderson ($5500)
Plain and simple, the Tampa Defense is bad. They have yet to allow less than 24 points in a game this season. I also wouldn’t consider Trevor Siemian, Case Keenum and a dysfunctional Carson Palmer as daunting matchups. Anderson filled in after Newton went down with a concussion and he did just fine from a fantasy perspective. Facing a very banged up Bucs defense, Anderson is a great option at home. Neither Artis-Payne or Fozzy Whittaker have established themselves as reliable ball carriers so look for the Panthers to continue to attack through the air. The Panthers were also shredded by Matty Ice and Julio last week and that could happen again with Winston and the seemingly unstoppable Mike Evans. This should keep the game very competitive and has shootout potential. A 250 yard, 3 touchdown performance is very possible against the 27th worst team against the pass. (Football outsiders)
GPP pivot: Jameis Winston ($5,800)
RB: Jacquizz Rodgers ($3000)
I never thought I’d be recommending Quizz’ but unfortunately, I am. Sims is doubtful for this one and the Bucs have their backs up against a wall in terms of RB decisions.
There’s no way in hell Barber out-touches Rodgers in this one. In the scenario that Barber receives more carries than Rodgers, we know the receptions will heavily lean toward the latter. Rodgers is by no means a good runner and he has never been -- that’s not the point here. Draftkings scoring heavily favors runners who can also rack up receptions and this is why Sims was such an enticing option when he had the workload. While having a back who can run it 20 times and also catch five passes is nice, at $3,000 we can’t get too greedy here. As Evan Silva said in his weekly matchup column, expect 14-29 touches. 5x value is a very real possibility here and this game should be relatively high scoring, which bodes well for the satellite back. According to playerprofiler.com, Rodgers had a 20.9% college target share which was in the 98th percentile. He will get work in the passing game and that’s really what we want here. This is also a boost to Winston’s stock. Despite Dirk Koetter’s recent comments on lowering Winston’s pass attempts, that won’t come to fruition until after their bye in Week 6. The 3k price tag also frees up plenty of salary to load up on the other skill positions. When Peyton Barber scores three goal-line TD’s, feel free to @ me on twitter and roast me.
WR: Sanders/Evans/K. Benjamin ($21,800)

Where are my mythology fans at? I’ll be honest, I know very little about any type of mythology but I do remember the three-headed dog thing. Cerberus is the official term but for fantasy sake, we will call him Emmanuel Evanjamin. The trio should be started in DK this week and don’t hesitate. The secondaries of the Chargers, Bucs and Panthers are not intimidating in the slightest. After losing star corner Jason Verrett and missing Brandon Flowers for the second straight week to a concussion, the Chargers were carved through by Amari Cooper. No matter who the QB is for the Broncos, the two youngsters will sling it to Sanders. If Flowers misses another game, this matchup becomes even sweeter. How much do I need to say about Evans and Benjamin? Both secondaries rank outside the top-15 and each will have to deal with 6’4” + receivers (V-Jax, Evans/ Funchess,Benjamin). The case for Benjamin is as follows; Funchess has done little to impress thus far, Ginn is merely a deep threat and Anderson loves Benjamin in their limited time together. “ Kelvin Benjamin went 6-92-1 and 8-104-0 in Anderson's two 2014 starts,” http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/65612/179/silvas-week-5-matchups?pg=4. Benjamin is a big target and will be a favorite target of Anderson once again. Mike Evans is the more talented version of Kelvin Benjamin and he will be anxious to destroy the Panthers’ secondary as Julio did. Obviously a Julio-like game is not to be expected but 100-plus yards receiving and 2 TD’s is the goal. Start all three with confidence in any format.
TE: Cameron Brate ($2700)
Everyone will be on Greg Olsen in this one, as will I. The dual TE move didn’t work well for me last week, but it’s just a matter of nailing the two correct ones. Ertz and Tye were just not involved and Tye had a pass from Eli sail over his head while he was wide open -- this obviously doesn’t show up on the box score. Regardless, I will have some exposure to the double TE dream once again. The FLEX spot is a bit weak for this slate and Brate has seen 18 targets over his last two games and should be heavily involved once again. Olsen should be locked and loaded in most of your lineups but have some Brate exposure. The Panthers have given up multiple big games to TE’s this season and look for the trend to continue here. Tamme, Rudolph, Vance McDonald and Virgil Green have all done well facing Carolina this season.
I will be rolling with the Fozzy-Rodgers lineup in quite a few GPP’s and will be fading the Chargers in cash, of course. Melvin Gordon has been extremely inefficient but keeps finding paydirt. The TD streak will end this week but Gordon has been active in the pass game as well. I won’t have too much exposure too him due to my love for Rodgers and Fozzy this week. Fozzy Rodgers and Emmanuel Evanjamin, remember that folks. Feel free to DM/ reach out to me on Twitter @BrettSquiresDFS. Thanks guys.
